A beautiful moment
I can't believe it's been a month since I last updated. Wait... I take that back. I've been so lost in my own thoughts the past few weeks that everything has seemed a blur. Lately, I've had a serious feeling of being uncontent with myself. Nothing horrible or majorly depressing... My mood has just been stuck in a very quiet and contemplative mode. There's been a lot of mental reevaluating of friends, family, and most especially myself. (Probably something to do with this whole growing up/maturing thing...) I'm not sure where it's all going, and I'll let you know if I come up with anything big or insightful. But for right now, I've just been letting my thoughts roam free and seeing where they take me.
And maybe my thoughts might explain this beautiful ache in my heart that I get whenever it gets quiet.
For now, I will leave you with a description of perhaps one of the most fantastic moments I have ever experienced.
Meg, Kathleen and I went to the MD Renaissance Fest this past Sunday (on Pirate Day no less!). One of the live bands we saw (three times... cough cough) was The Rogues, who are a very aptly named group with two bagpipers, two drummers, and all four wearing kilts (and wearing them very well I might add). The show was to be our last of the day as we were all tired and we had perused through all of the shops and spent all of our money. So we sat down, getting there early to get a seat closer to the band. Soon enough the band members ambled on to the stage picking up with the others as they came on. When they finally started up full speed, something happened that can only be described as truly elemental. Without real warning, the sky grew ominously dark and the wind start picking up and blowing everything around just as if the skies were about to open and drench us all. The song became a wild combination of bagpipes and drums and kilts and green woods with yellow leaves swirling around in the storm-fed breeze. It was so cool to sit there and listen to the music continue as we all waited for the first drops of rain to fall. And surprisingly not a single drop fell... perhaps b/c the lead personality of the group started beating his drum loudly and challenging the angry gods (his words...) while one of the bagpipers flipped off the sky. The whole experience was hilarious and powerfully moving and silly and truly beautiful. I wish I could explain it more aptly.
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the coming of fall. The world is a beautiful place; may you see it for all it's worth. Cheers.
